Ngaati Wairere Treaty Claims Trust
NWTCT Structure
The Ngaati Wairere Treaty Claims Trust is accountable to Ngaati Wairere iwi first and foremost. As the claim is bought by the Wai 2067 claimants on behalf of Ngaati Wairere, the claimants are an integral part of the settlement process as is Te Taumata Kaumaatua o Ngaati Wairere, advisors to the Trust on issues pertaining to tikanga and whakapapa.
The Trust has six members and an option exists to co-opt two more trustees who would operate without decision-making powers.
The Co-Chairs and the Negotiator/s make up the Claims Leadership Team. Here, relationships with the Crown, other iwi organisations and relevant parties will be developed. General claims related matters will also be addressed by Claims Leadership.
Research and management teams will be established as part of the Trust and external specialists will be engaged to progress settlement.
