As the claim is bought by the Wai 2067 claimants on behalf of Ngaati Wairere, the claimants are an integral part of the settlement process as is Te Taumata Kaumaatua o Ngaati Wairere, advisors to the Trust on issues pertaining to tikanga and whakapapa.

The Trust has six members and an option exists to co-opt two more trustees who would operate without decision-making powers.
