Ngaati Wairere Treaty Claims Trust
Why register?
The purpose of registration is to ensure Ngaati Wairere iwi have the ability to communicate effectively with whanau and Wairere nui tonu.
Currently the NWTCT is the administrator of the database, the main uses of which are to:
-
Communicate more effectively with Wairere whanau around the motu and the world
-
Assist the work required of the Trust in relation to the progress of the Ngaati Wairere WAI 2067 historical lands claim
-
Communicate with whanau in relation to the activities of other Wairere kaupapa
The information we collect from you such as your contact details are entered into our own database. This stores only the information you give us, so if your contact details change, you should let us know.
The forms are designed to register members and their whaanau not only those who are registered as tribal members to Tauhei or Hukanui Marae but those who whakapapa to one or more hapuu of Wairere nui tonu.
Those over the age of 18 years of age are classified as adults and should complete their own form.
Iwi Registration recognises all descendants (by birth or adoption including formal adoption or customary Maori adoption) who can whakapapa (show evidence of genealogical connection) to one or more hapu of Wairere nui tonu.
